Keenan & Lorie Smith - Lead Pastors

“When we lean in to the things of God, He is always able to pour into us.”

Keenan was born in 1962 in Decatur, Illinois. As a young man in high school, Keenan had a life-changing experience. When his father, an alcoholic, gave his heart to Jesus Christ, it brought radical change to the Smith household. Having witnessed genuine transformation in his father, Keenan also gave his life to the Lord—a decision that altered the course of his life forever. Obeying the call of God, Keenan entered the ministry in 1982. While serving God, he also started a small construction company, building homes and swimming pools.

Keenan’s wife, Lorie, was also born and raised in Decatur where her parents have pastored since 1961. Lorie was almost literally born in church, and that’s where she and Keenan first met. They were married in 1981. Lorie worked as a nurse in the early years of her marriage and later helped her husband build the construction company. During that time, Lorie never lost her main focus: raising their three children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and assisting Keenan in the ministry.

In 1991, the couple sold their company and moved to the Houston area where Keenan ministered in Pasadena, Texas. In 1999, along with four close friends, he established Team Impact, an international group of professional athletes using their God-given abilities to capture imaginations and motivate hearts. Team Impact ministers to the whole family while touching the lives of nearly a million public school students each year—and thousands more at evening crusades around the world. Team Impact entertains and inspires young people by demonstrating feats of strength while teaching them to say "NO" to drugs and alcohol and encouraging them to chase their God-given dreams. Each year thousands are lead to the Lord Jesus Christ through Team Impact. Today, Team Impact is aired weekly on television programs in over 260 countries and ministers to some of the largest churches in America.

Keenan Smith became Lead Pastor of Crosby Church in 2003. Since then he has introduced fresh and exciting change. A man of positive dynamics, Keenan continues to stretch the Crosby Church congregation with biblical principles by developing a philosophy of Build the People, Build the Body, Build the Kingdom.

A firm believer in community involvement, Keenan has been a Crosby-Huffman Chamber of Commerce member since 1995 and has served on the Chamber Board since 1996. In 2004, Keenan and his wife Lorie founded Crosby Care—Meeting the Needs of People, Inc., a non-profit organization that offers a low-cost alternative for groceries and helps to clothe hundreds of children every Christmas.

John Satherley - Family Care Pastor

John holds the office of Family Care Pastor for Crosby Church. A native of England, John holds dear to his nationality but enjoys the cultural contrast to his adopted Texas lifestyle.

John’s past experience in personnel management in the military and corporate industry, refined by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, has enabled him to administer God’s love appropriately to people experiencing the harshness of life’s difficulties. His ministerial duties at Crosby Church are primarily hospital and home visitations, spiritual counseling, organizing/officiating funerals and weddings, and other practical family matters. John also pastorally oversees the Prayer Ministry, Altar Workers, Life Impact Groups, Communion Preparation, Baby Dedications and Water Baptisms.

John openly confesses the blessings his Lord has poured into his life by way of his wife Peggy, who he believes has demonstrated unswerving commitment to their family and serving Christ in full time ministry.

Along with total commitment to Pastor Keenan, John is indebted to his Savior for the ability to serve Him, his Pastor, and the people of Crosby Church with the absolute goal of glorifying our heavenly Father and promoting His Kingdom through Crosby Church.

John’s careers, prior to full-time ministry, are diverse. After leaving school at the age of 16, he joined the Royal Air Force. He served in the Middle and Far East as well as the United Kingdom before retiring from the military in 1979. He graduated from North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1981 in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

John gave his life to Jesus Christ at the end of October 1988, and began to worship at Winchester Family Church in Winchester, England. On a vacation to the USA in 1988, he met Peggy, his wife to be. By August 1989, they were married and living in Winchester, England. They were blessed with two fine sons, Trevor in 1994 and Aaron in 1996. The boys enjoy dual-nationality.

In August of 1999, John and his family immigrated to the United States and bought a home in Huffman, Texas, where they currently reside.

John, Peggy, and their boys began attending Crosby Church in October 1999. In mid 2000, John accepted the position of Care Pastor.

Mary Butler - Huffman Campus Children's Minister

“Jesus loves you now! Just as you are.”

Mary was born in Houston, Texas and raised in the Sheldon area where she faithfully attended church with her family. She gave her life to Christ at the young age of 6 at a Wednesday night service. Being home schooled until she attended a small private school in Baytown, Texas for junior high and Baytown Christian Academy for high school,Mary looked forward to Summer which meant Vacation Bible School. VBS was where she first began to learn what it means to serve Christ and His Church well while still getting to play around and act like a kid.

After graduating Magnum CumLaude from Baytown Christian Academy, Mary has bounced around to severalcolleges and has earned her Associates of Arts in International Studies and isfinishing up her Bachelors at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Heraspiration is to get her teaching certification once she is finished with her BA in Humanities.

Volunteering in multipleministries since she first started attending Crosby Church in the Spring of 2007, Mary loves teaching the word of God and learning more and more about the depth of love that God has for her to share with others. An opportunity in 2001 allowed Mary to travel to Peru with a group of her peers to share the gospel for three weeks. This is a time where deep rooted love and a call to serve thechurch continued to develop in her and Mother's Day 2015, Mary accepted the Children's Minister position at Crosby Church Huffman Campus.

In her spare time, Mary enjoys cooking, baking, taking her dog to the dog park, going to the beach, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She also enjoys all sorts of crafting, coloring, sipping a good cup of tea, and making people feel the love that God has put in her heart.

Rhonda Powell - Mother's Day Out Director

Josh Powell was born in Lynnville, IN in 1983. He was not raised in church and knew very little truth about the Lord. He loves basketball and was on the Indiana state basketball team in 1999. Through sports, he became friends with a Christian teenager in high school. Because of this Christian teen and his family, after many invites which Josh declined, Josh accepted an invitation to go to an outdoor Christian music festival where a man who had never met Josh approached him and began to speak about things to Josh that only God could have known. As a result of God showing himself so real to Josh that night, Josh accepted Jesus as his Lord and savior and began attending Boonville Worship Center at the age of 19 with his Christian friend. About 3 years later, Josh began to feel the call to ministry and became a licensed minister through the Bethel Ministerial Association.

Rhonda was born in Boonville, IN in 1981. Her family did attend church off and on for most of her childhood and began attending Boonville Worship Center when she was 10. At 15, Jesus began to relentlessly pursue Rhonda's heart and she attended Bethel Youth Camp and Conference Center in Dale, IN where Pastor Keenan Smith often came to preach. Jesus radically changed her life that summer and called her into the ministry. She proceeded to attend the Lee University, a Christian University in Cleveland, TN where she received a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a minor in Biblical Studies. God has taken her to many places for missions such as Israel, China, Ghana, Colombia, and Guatemala.

In the summer of 2004, after Rhonda was returning from a year of missions in Colombia, God told her to stay and as a result He began to write the love story of Josh and Rhonda and they were later married in October of 2005. The following year in October of 2006, Josh and Rhonda became the youth pastors at Boonville Worship Center and did many things with the youth there including directing camps and fall retreats, community outreaches as well as youth services, discipleship classes, etc. They worked with the youth there until God used a series of events to bring the Powell's southward to become the youth ministers at the Crosby Church- Huffman Campus. Accompanying them is their three children: Abigail, Josiah, and Hadassah.

Josh and Rhonda love teens and having fun with the teens. They have a passion for the teens of today to come to know and love Jesus Christ and to teach them how to walk out their faith in everyday life. They have a heart for discipleship and giving teens a strong foundation in Christ so they will not be shaken by what this world can bring and they are ready to see a wide harvest in this area of young people falling in love with Jesus.

Bethany graduated from Hargrave High School in 2012, and was a Falconette dance and guard member for all four years. She then went to San Jacinto College for two years before transferring to the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
